Sometimes it’s hard to know the best way to seek support when you’re in certain scenarios.
And with so many services available, it can be a minefield knowing what will be the best use of your time and money.
So I wrote these personas to help showcase to you how I can help and support individuals.
All of these are inspired by common client scenarios I’ve worked with.
Is your persona missing? Come and tell me your story. DM me on LinkedIn or book a Free Consultation.
The Redundancy Reset : Claire who has been made redundant from her job and finds herself suddenly on the job market with the pressure of finding a job before her reward package runs out.
Claire had dedicated eight years to the same company. She’d climbed the ladder through promotion and even made a lateral move to broaden her experience. Then, suddenly and unexpectedly, her role was made redundant. Given a four-month severance package, Claire found herself thrust back into the job market, feeling the pressure mount as the clock ticked down on her financial cushion. She wasn’t just looking for any job; she needed help getting her career back on track, and fast. The shock and upset were making it hard to focus on job searching, CV writing felt daunting, and the thought of interviews was terrifying.
How can Tony help Claire?
Claire would have an initial 30 minute consultation with me for free to determine how I can help. She explains that this news has taken her by surprise and that she’s still upset that this has happened, which is struggling to help her to focus on where to begin with job search strategies, writing a CV and the thought of an interview is scary. But the clock is ticking and she knows she needs to get on with things if she wants to generate income before the severance package runs out. I recommend the Career Navigation Academy as she gets the most hands on support from me as a coach, help from a cohort of people going through similar circumstances, training on job search strategies, cv tweaking and interview prep as well as a new CV and tailored interview feedback. With all of this support in hand, Claire ends up better off as she secured a new role in line with her preferences within 2 months.
The Strategic Mover : Rohit who has moved from job to job and had a successful career, but wants his next role to be aligned with his preferences
Rohit loves nothing more than new experiences, which translates into his career as he has had 4 jobs in the last 5 years with 3 different companies, and he has itchy feet again. Before he jumps into his next career move, he wants to be as certain as he can be that it’s the right fit for him. He’s also nervous that his CV is too long and paints the picture that he’s not loyal to companies. Rohit is nervous that he will make the wrong decision and make the career history look worse if he has to make another move again, he needs help to make sure his next step is the right one.
How can Tony help Rohit?
Rohit would have an initial 30 minute consultation with me for free to determine how I can help. He explains his circumstances and how his main priority is to make sure that he is aware of all of the roles he’d have the transferable skills to do before he makes a decision on what role is best for him. He also shows me his 4 page CV which he doesn’t know how to refine down to the industry standard of two pages without compromising on his experience. I recommend the Career Clarity and CV Rewrite service as this helps identify all of the roles he has the transferable skills to do and considers roles most aligned to his preferences. In the consultation, we determine that Rohit loves the company but is not enjoying the role, so I recommend he explores internal opportunities to see what might be available. I produce the career clarity report and he realises there’s two vacancies he wouldn’t have considered that he would really enjoy doing. He uses his new two page CV to apply and successfully secures a new role. Now he has maintained loyalty to a company which appears good on his CV and he has a new role in the right organisation which he’d have left if he’d not taken a step back to reflect on his experience.
The One with Too Much Experience : Alex who knows they have lots of experience, but has no idea how to condense it down into a two page CV and sell it to people in an interview.
Alex has had a wide range of career history and industry experience. They have been working for 25 years which starts in various hospitality jobs, through to retail, then contact centre work which led to promotion to a team leader and most recently, they’ve been working in an operations role. Alex is unsure where to start with their CV and is wary of picking the wrong examples in an interview. Alex knows they want to try a new industry and that they are keen to stay in Operations, but recognises that the former experience helped contribute to where they are today. They need help with their CV & Interview skills.
How can Tony help Alex?
Alex would have a free 30 minute consultation with Tony for free to explain their circumstances. Through having the consultation, Alex shares that they have spent the last 10 years working for the same bank which is why they want to share examples in the CV and Interview to showcase how they have diversified in the past. Tony assures Alex that there are ways to do this whilst still demonstrating their agility without showcasing historic work that isn’t directly transferable to the new role they are going for. Alex decides to take out the CV Consultation and Interview Training package to learn the best ways to do this. In the CV Consultation, Alex learns that through the bio and skills section, you can nod to the former experience and that the 10 years in the bank but across 4 different roles showcases that diversification in any event. Tony then produces a 2 page CV which tells their story in the right way. In the interview preparation training, we cover how to prep interview examples which showcase the right experiences for the role Alex is applying for and through the mock interview, Alex gets feedback on what worked well and what could be improved. Alex secures a Operations role in the manufacturing industry.
The Application Overload : Liam who is applying for lots of jobs but is not sure why he is making no progress.
Liam has applied for over 150 new roles in the last month but he has never secured an interview. He’s either been ghosted or had the standard rejection emails but has never got proper feedback on what is going wrong. It’s starting to impact his mental health as the constant fear of another rejection email with no context or hitting send to chase recruiters and get nothing back is exhausting. He’s not sure what might be causing the issue and all he really wants is a job with an immediate start. Any job will do! He needs help to understand why he can’t get past the first hurdle.
How can Tony help Liam?
Liam would have a free 30 minute consultation with Tony to explain his circumstances. In that session, we determine that Liam is a Technical Support Analyst who is eagerly seeking a new role as he doesn’t feel like his job is secure at the moment. The fear of losing his role is causing him to apply for anything technical or anything support related. He has a good cv which showcases his experience which he has been using to apply as standard for all opportunities. Tony recommends a Career Coaching Subscription and in that one to one, he shows Liam how to tailor his CV to match the job description and how to sense check which roles are best suited for him to avoid the rapid application process he’s been applying to date. Liam then WhatsApps Tony with roles and gets advice from Tony on how suitable the role might be and whether Liam should apply. If yes, Tony provides some recommendations on how to edit the CV and reviews drafts which Liam pulls together. Liam sends less applications, experiences less rejection and has the confidence to land an interview and secure his next role.
