There are so many ways to find vacancies in today’s job market.
You can set up LinkedIn alerts, upload your CV to the likes of Indeed or CV Library, use AI to scan the market for you or even register directly with the company and get alerts from them when a roll crops up.
None of the above are wrong, however one major good quality source that is often overlooked is the niche job boards that are out there.
Why do they matter?
There’s a few reasons why these can be a good quality source of new vacancies.
When you find a job board that matches your role, sector and/or location, it’s already a list of highly relevant roles applicable to where you’d like to secure your next role.
How many of us have signed up for Indeed job alerts and started receiving notifications for jobs we’d never want to be involved in because your filter term includes “Manager”?
With a niche job board, the quality is much higher, making it easier for you to find the best roles.
For recruiters, it’s a great source of talent. For example, on LinkedIn, I have been recommended for Finance Business Partner roles despite the fact that I have zero experience in this field.
This means that recruiters can get spammed with lower quality applicants who are led by the platform telling them they might have the skills for this role.
These same people aren’t looking on https://www.gaapweb.com/ which is the UK’s leading job board for Finance & Accounting roles.
If a recruiter is seeking top talent, then this pool of candidates is going to be a much more trustworthy source. They’d be wise to look here first instead of LinkedIn.
How can I find them?
Start by identifying your niche roles, sectors and industries.
For example, my most recent roles prior to the work I do today were in Digital Transformation and HR in the Big4 so I would focus on Transformation and HR in corporate roles.
Use AI to help you. Ask it to locate job boards for you based on your level of seniority, location and niche roles/sectors/industries. Remember to test the quality of it’s outputs. The first draft will likely provide you with some outdated links etc.

As you can tell, there’s lots out there, and this only scratches the surface.
